The Somali Sports Minister has been accused of being responsible for the reason why the United States returned sports referee Omar Cartan

The former President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is trying to cover up the crime he committed against Judge Omar Carte, was welcomed today in Mogadishu International Airport, after he was returned from the United States who refused to enter their country. 

The former administration has forgotten that the Minister of Sports, whose tenure ended on May 15, 2026, opposed a brief training session for referees to be taught FIFA World Cup 2026 rules, before the opening of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
