Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has accused countries in the region of supporting Israel's decision to recognize Somaliland.

The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who for the last 25 hours has been involved in controlling the movement of the leaders of the Somali Future Council, has accused the Governments in the region, which he did not name, of supporting the decision of Israel to recognize Somaliland, and seeing in it opportunities to achieve their own interests that are against the unity of Somalia and the stability of the region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who gave an interview to Asharq Al-Awsa media, said based on this that Somalia adopted a three-pronged political strategy to eliminate what he described as Israel's recognition of Somaliland.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said his government is working closely with the coalition led by Saudi Arabia to maintain stability and defend the Horn of Africa from what he called "uncontrollable violence."
"I do not want to name a specific country or countries, but it is clear that some may see the recognition of Somaliland as an opportunity to achieve limited benefits," said the president.
